J'aime bien l'idée que ce recul de la part de l'état du Maine, fasse jurisprudence vis à vis les autres états qui auraient l'intention de faire de même.

Il est par contre plus difficile de contrer la poussé de municipalités qui interdissent le stationnement de nuit dans les limites de leur ville, et cela pour les mêmes raison: favoriser l'utilisation des camping locaux ou municipale.

L'important est de ne pas lâcher, être à l'écoute des différents milieu d'information sur le sujet , ensuite il faut dénoncer, puis intervenir comme nous l'avons fait dans le cas de l'état du Maine.

Nous avons ici une belle exemple que ensemble (québécois, Canadien, Américain, Francophone et Anglophone) on peut faire une véritable différence.

We are aware of the Maine project of Law that would ban RVers from parking overnight in publics places in the state of Maine or facing heavy fines.

I represent http://www.VRcamping.com, an organization gathering more than 39,000 RVers in Canada and we would like to mention that if this project of Law ( LD114/HP98 ) is passed and become Law, we will have no other choice than to recommend ALL our Members to avoid the state of Maine in the future. This project of law is probably promoted by campgrounds wishing and hoping that this would-law would encourage RVers to go thru their campgrounds if this kind of overnight parking is prohibited.

This would be a big mistake to think this way since this is not the cost of a night campground that motivates RVers to park in public places throughout Canada and United States. It's the convenience to find grocery occasions and a parking for few hours without having to disburse money they feel it would be non productive.

We urge then the state of Maine to reconsider their thinking about this project of law; otherwise, thousands and thousands of canadian RVers will have to spend their money in other states than Maine that understand much better their real needs while on the roads.

et Québécois, bravo pour votre victoire.

Nous surveillerons avec vous les autres Municipalités, Provinces et États qui seraient tentés d'agir de la sorte. Si nous tous nous faisons un peu de surveillance

nous découragerons d'autres municipalités tant Québécoises qu'ailleurs à tenter d'imiter l'État du Maine.

Maine House kills RV camping bill

on Tuesday, May. 12 at 11:35 am AUGUSTA — A bill that would end free camping for recreational vehicles at store parking lots has just died in the House of Representatives.

The sponsor of LD 114, Rep. Anne Perry, D-Calais, asked her fellow lawmakers to accept the minority “ought not to pass” report from the Health and Human Services Committee. She said she has heard from a number of people who gave her information on what her bill would do. She told the House today that the bill was “too broad,” would affect too many businesses and could impact the travel safety of RVers.

She also said she had received a number of unpleasant e-mails.

“A lot of the e-mails I got were nasty, name-calling e-mails,” said Perry. “If those were the only things I had gotten, honestly, I think I would have stuck my feet in and passed this bill.”

But she said e-mails from people who got her valuable information helped sway her decision.

The House accepted the minority report without a roll call. The House then sent the bill to the Senate for that body’s consideration. Given that the sponsor asked that the bill be killed in the House, it’s unlikely that LD 114 will be approved in the Senate.

Si effectivement ce bill meurt au feuilleton, ceci voudras dire au moins quelque chose: quand un groupe se mobilise contre un projet de Loi qu'il juge injuste ou inéquitable... tout est possible si on s'adresse aux bonnes instances.

Dans ce cas-ci, je crois que la Chambre de Commerce du Maine avait son mot à dire! Si des groupes de caravaniers disent aux commercants de cet État qu'ils ne les visiteront plus, qu'ils ne dépenseront plus leur argent chez eux... voilà des paroles auxquelles ils ne peuvent demeurer insensibles...!

This was a bad bill detrimental to the RVers to favor most probably one category of people: the campground owners...

Our Members will cheer the happy ending of that bill.
